Bombilla Acero With Removable Angled Filter
This type of bombilla is truly a masterpiece. They are handcrafted by an artesan in Uruguay and appear to be crafted from a single piece of metal, and you can hardly notice that the filter in actual fact unscrews and can be removed for ease of cleaning. Made from the finest Uruguayan 1.2mm stainless steel. This in itself means that the bombilla won’t heat up like more economy models, but also at the mouthpiece there is a large decorative drop, also made from stainless steel to help further remove heat from the mouthpiece.
The filter is a triangular shape which is to help with the aim of manipulating the yerba around the mate cup, and particular to help as a tool when cleaning out used yerba from the mate cup – this bombilla is extremely effective!
The approximate length of this bombilla is 20.5 cm
Advice on how to clean this bombilla – remove the filter head and boil in water with a little vinegar added. This will loosen any debris, then use a cleaning brush
Brewing Your Yerba Mate
The tradition of drinking yerba mate is such an important part of the South American culture, specifically in Uruguay, Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, although it is also enjoyed in other South American countries. Typically, it is drunk from a natural gourd (a hollowed out fruit) used as a cup, and then sipped through a metal straw known as a bombilla that has a filtered end to separate the infusion from the yerba leaves.
