I love smokey flavors. Islay whiskey. Smoked salmon. Hickory BBQ. Leathery smokey perfumes. You name it. And now this Yerba Mate has made that list. It's my first ever Paraguayan Yerba. I've been drinking Argentinian varieties on and off for years but the flavor never blew my socks off. It was just a pleasant alternative to tea or coffee that had its own "vibe". This La Rubia though.. absolutely something else. It's own category separate from other yerbas. I haven't tried other Paraguayan brands but now I'll try every one. Maybe it's just the regional style that I'm into, like with islay malts. Either way, this brand is a winner by every standard. The smoke does not overwhelm whatsoever and there's a gorgeous velvety sweetness that accompanies the leather and smoke. Every flavor is proportioned perfectly and it lasts easily over a liter per serving. The distinctive "green" yerba note is also more mature and feels less astringent and more "yellow" if that makes any sense. Hay vs grass kinda thing. Love it. Buy it. Good yerba very well selected however not very strong taste I would recommend it if you like mild flavour.
