This mate is perfect for those who don’t want to use a natural gourd. This small ceramic mate cup is perfect if you suffer from acid indigestion (a natural gourd adds flavour and acidity to the brew) and is also more simple to care for, and more durable. It has a shiny lacquered and very stylish finish
Please note this small ceramic mate cup does NOT stand independently. It is based on natural mate cups which are from a particular species. When they are cut and prepared for use as a mate cup they form this shape. It is normal to use something like a small bowl, mug or glass a “posamate” i.e. a stand to hold it upright when it isn’t in use. This is a small item, which is ideal if you are drinking alone, or simply wish to conserve yerba.
Ceramic mate cups are very convenient as they can be immediately used. Which is instead of curing it. It also can be cared for more simplistically between uses – just rinse and you can forget about it unlike a natural gourd where you have to be sure it is always dry.

Yerba Mate
Yerba mate is an important part of South American social culture and this is because it is a social drink. It is a natural tea that is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Traditionally it is drunk from a mate cup which is usually made from a gourd, ceramics, glass or wood. It is then sipped through a metal straw with a filtered end called a bombilla.
