La Rubia
La Rubia is a family-run Paraguayan yerba mate brand produced in small batches in Obligado, Paraguay. Founded by Eugen Tischler, the company operates in a traditional, old-fashioned way, prioritising quality over volume. La Rubia is the only Paraguayan brand certified by the Instituto Nacional de Tecnología, Normalización y Metrología (INTN), meeting the highest quality standards in the country.
What sets La Rubia apart is its two-year natural ageing process. The organic leaves are slowly dried, lightly smoked, then left to mature in cedar bins. This extended ageing produces a remarkably smooth yerba with a sweet, smoky character, subtle tobacco-like depth, and a clean finish that lasts. The balanced cut of leaves, powder, and stems makes it excellent for both hot mate and cold tereré.
