Dulce de Leche is a sweet, creamy caramel spread that is extremely popular in the majority of South and Central America. It is made from milk and sugar, and is a very important dessert ingredient. Often used as a cake filling, or topping for pancakes/waffles/toast, it is also a key ingredient for banoffee pie, as well as a delicious as a sauce for ice cream, or just on its own! Be warned, dulce de leche is very more-ish, have one spoonful and you will be reaching for another!
This catering strength dulce de leche repostero (pastelero) is especially thick and strong in taste, so is ideal for baking. For example, as a cake or alfajor filling, it will hold its shape better, and for blending as a flavour, the taste will be more intense.
